Llançà, Catalonia, Spain – Planned project for future groundwater augmentation
Llançà is a town about twenty kilometres to the north of Roses (see Llançà A). Both areas are dry and have been hit hard by drought.
The Consorci d’Aigües Costa Brava Girona (CACBGi) recognised that used water is an important resource for the future, and established the AIGUANEIX project at Roses to demonstrate the effectiveness of water treatment technologies to produce water suitable for recharging aquifers.
The next objective is to construct a full scale purification plant that in future, would be able to supply water into the aquifer, for eventual community use.
Catalan Water Agency has funded the drafting of the water purification plant construction and aquifer recharge projects. These are currently being drafted and studied.
