Los Angeles County Department of Public Works, California, USA – Operating Groundwater Replenishment site receiving purified recycled water from LVL (Long Beach 1)

The Alamitos Barrier is one of three seawater barriers in southern Los Angeles County that the Water Replenishment District supplies recycled water to. Purified indirect potable reuse water from the Leo J. Vander Lans Advanced Water Purification Facility (LVL, see Long Beach 1) is delivered to the Alamitos Seawater Barrier to prevent seawater from intruding into the groundwater aquifers and simultaneously augments groundwater supply.
