Loudoun County, Virginia, USA – Operating surface water augmentation

Loudoun Water owns and operates the Broad Run Water Reclamation Facility. Its unique location in the Dulles Area Watershed makes it a key part of the Northern Virginia water supply.

Since it went online in 2008 the facility has provided advanced wastewater treatment, utilising membrane bioreactors, granular activated carbon filtration, and ultraviolet disinfection, to provide surface water augmentation to the Potomac River. This river not only provides drinking water to Northern Virginia and Maryland it is also a key supply of water to the Chesapeake Bay.
