Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department, Florida, USA – Under Construction groundwater augmentation
Project Overview: This project will purify reclaimed (recycled) water and replenish groundwater supplies throughout the region. This innovative, state-of-the-art facility will serve as a dependable, drought-resistant source while protecting our water resources and creating new recreational experiences for residents and visitors of Palm Beach County. As Florida’s population grows, so does the need for additional clean, safe, and sustainable water supplies. This innovative water reuse project will help replenish the region’s limited water supply while ensuring resilient water resources now and in the future.
Project Features: Palm Beach County Water Utilities Department is using state-of-the-art technology to develop a new water source without additional withdrawals from the underground aquifer. Following an advanced purification process, clean water will flow into lakes where it can recharge groundwater supplies.
Advanced Water Purification: Advanced water purification is a proven, multi-step process that mimics nature. As a result, the water cleansed will be as pure as water flowing from Florida’s most pristine natural springs.
Education and Learning Center: In addition to the purification center, this project includes a state-of-the-art education facility where students and visitors can learn more about the importance of water resources in our state.,
Recreational Opportunities: The lakes created by this project will provide new experiences for the public to connect with nature. The planned 63-acre Green Cay park will include hiking trails and public access waterways for visitors to bring their own canoe or kayak.
